RTP is the wrong number to fixate on
Two slots at 96% RTP can drain a $100 bankroll in 12 minutes or stretch it across 90. The label printed in the paytable tells you how much the game returns across millions of spins, not how it behaves across the 200 to 400 spins a session actually contains. Volatility, not return-to-player, decides whether a player sees a return during the only window that matters: the one they are playing in.
The two price tags on every slot

The modal outcome on a high-variance slot at 100 spins is bankruptcy. The expected outcome is a $96 return, which can only be measured in sessions that survive long enough to catch a 50x or better feature. Matching volatility to bankroll
A rough rule used by slot mathematicians and serious streamers: keep at least 200 bets in reserve for low variance, 300 for medium, 500 for high.
